Join Overton Square as we welcome the Idlewild Recorder Ensemble Wednesday!
These talented youngsters will be performing pop-up concerts at a variety of locations around the Square in appreciation for community support of Idlewild School. Musical selections will include recorder playing, singing, and various pitched and unpitched percussion instruments. Performance selections include Simple Gifts (a Shaker song), Guambra Ingrata (a Andean folk melody), Praise the Fire (a French folk song), and Funga Alafia (an African folk song).
The Idlewild Recorder Ensemble has a history of excellence in music making and has been selected to perform at many ArtsFest Concerts. Around the school, the recorder ensemble is seen caroling classes, performing at awards programs, fifth grade promotions, and performing in the school-wide Side-by-Side concert with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.
