Bar Louie Space to Become Porch & Parlor

The team behind Flight restaurant Downtown and Southern Social in Germantown – Tom Powers and Russ Graham – are the new tenants for the cornerstone space in Overton Square occupied until recently by Bar Louie.

Loeb Properties Inc. announced Tuesday, April 10, that Porch & Parlor will begin the conversion of the Bar Louie space on the southwest corner of Madison and Cooper within the next month, describing it as “a fine-dining concept.”

Memphis Louie LLC, the company that owned Bar Louie, filed for bankruptcy reorganization a year ago. Loeb Properties and Overton Square South LLC filed a motion to allow it to continue plans to find a new tenant for the space.

Bar Louie closed earlier this year after being among the first new tenants in the refurbished entertainment district five years ago.

Porch & Parlor to take over Bar Louie spot in Overton Square

The owners of Flight and Southern Social will open their third restaurant in the former Bar Louie space in Overton Square.

Tom Powers and Russ Graham inked a deal with Loeb Properties that gives them the large space at the southwest corner of Madison and Cooper. The new fine dining restaurant will be named Porch & Parlor.

Powers said the name is derived from the space. There's a large porch, part of which will be available for year-round use, and the renovation will add a parlor along with a main dining room and a bar.

Bar Louie opened in 2013 at 2125 Madison and closed in January after landlord Loeb Properties bought out the remainder of the lease on what it called an under-performing property. Rumors have flown about what would go in the space; while Powers and Graham were mentioned early, the lease was only fully executed Tuesday.

"We are looking forward to activating Overton Square's 'gateway' space with Russ Graham and Tom Powers' experienced team and unique, sophisticated fine-dining concept," said Ciara Neill, director of marketing for Loeb Properties.
