Loeb Gets Okay To Move Forward With Overton Square Hotel

A new hotel planned for Overton Square is now one step closer to reality. Loeb Properties wants to build a 7-story, 109-room boutique hotel next to the Hatiloo Theatre.

During a meeting at city hall Thursday morning, the measure passed, and Loeb was told it could move forward with the development. However, neighbors and patrons remain worried about parking since the hotel would take parking spaces from the Square.

One solution is to get restricted parking for some streets, but not everyone agrees the permits will work.

“The requirement is 75% of the residence participating and unfortunately part of my street, a large part of the street his rental properties,” says homeowner Roger Schwartz.

Construction is scheduled to start on the hotel in November with a grand opening in early 2020.
