Many of you already have your New Year's Eve plans in mind and whether that is heading to a bar, restaurant, or a friend's place, getting there is going to be a concern.
If you choose a cab, companies stress the importance of being patient while you wait. Premier Transportation tells us New Year's Eve is one of their busiest nights.
Hamilton Smythe IV, president of Premier Transportation, says due to road closures downtown people may have to be a little flexible with where they are picked up and dropped off. The expected rain is also a concern.
"It's always a little problematic," says Smythe. "So if there are windows of good weather I think people will be out celebrating, but we're predicting a lot of rain so I'm not sure how that will affect Beale Street which is where everyone likes to congregate."
Other ride options like Lyft and Uber are also available. Lyft says its discount code NYE Memphis will get you $5 off your first 10 Lyft rides. Peak times on New Year's Eve are between 8 and 11 p.m. and 1 and 3 a.m.
Ride the Roo will also be available, which runs between Overton Square and Cooper Young.
Smythe says if you're headed to Beale Street, the best recommendation is to just hail a cab because there will be plenty circulating. He also says to travel in groups if possible.
