Stax Music Academy Spring Concert

Rain Date: Please note the Stax Music Academy Spring Concert has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The concert will take place on Thursday, May 6 at 6:00 pm.

Stax Music Academy’s 2015 – 2016 after school program, SNAP!, will culminate into a Spring concert with students from the music academy at Overton Square’s outdoor Tower Courtyard on May 1 from 4 pm – 6 pm.

Students who have been attending classes Monday – Friday from 4:30 pm – 7 pm will perform for their third public concert this Spring. They also performed a holiday concert in December and the annual Black History Month show.

Students from Stax Music Academy Rhythm Section, Stax Music Academy Junior Rhythm Section, Soulsville Jazz Ensemble, Stax Vocal Jazz, Street Corner Harmonies, Premier Percussionists, and Stax Vocal Classics will all show what they have learned during the Spring concert. There is a $5 cover.

Stax Music Academy is part of the Soulsville Foundation which includes Stax Museum of American Soul Music and The Soulsville Charter School. The foundation aims to uphold the Stax Records musical heritage and pass it along to young people to inspire them through the power of soul music.
