7 Ways to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Memphis

Did you know Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that celebrates an unexpected victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862? The Mexican army won the battle despite being smaller and ill-equipped.

You can celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Memphis with food specials, drink specials, and even a few races to help you justify the food and drinks with these events:

Join Breakaway for their annual Cinco De Mayo pub run, kicking off at 6pm from their Midtown Overton Square store. Pub Run stops to include Breakaway RunningCafe Ole, and Hammer & Ale. The first 100 to sign a waiver at the event get the 2016 limited edition Cinco De Mayo pub run t-shirt! A group picture will be taken at 6 PM on the Overton Square stage. Please bring ID and cash.

Come make colorful tissue paper flowers and turn them into a bouquet or a crown inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The craft will be available on Cinco de Mayo – just come for Art Free Play! You can reserve a time by calling at 425-3434 or here.
