Did you know Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that celebrates an unexpected victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862? The Mexican army won the battle despite being smaller and ill-equipped.
You can celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Memphis with food specials, drink specials, and even a few races to help you justify the food and drinks with these events:
Join Breakaway for their annual Cinco De Mayo pub run, kicking off at 6pm from their Midtown Overton Square store. Pub Run stops to include Breakaway Running, Cafe Ole, and Hammer & Ale. The first 100 to sign a waiver at the event get the 2016 limited edition Cinco De Mayo pub run t-shirt! A group picture will be taken at 6 PM on the Overton Square stage. Please bring ID and cash.
Come make colorful tissue paper flowers and turn them into a bouquet or a crown inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The craft will be available on Cinco de Mayo – just come for Art Free Play! You can reserve a time by calling at 425-3434 or here.
