Participating businesses will offer specials for $20.16.
It is not just restaurants participating. A lot has changed along Madison Avenue in just a few years, including a vibrant Overton Square. So why not highlight what is unique here?
That's the idea behind Meet Me Along Madison, where restaurants, boutiques, dry cleaners, and even a music studio have specials for the public for two days.
For a price that reflects the time we live in — $20.16 — visitors to 32 Madison Avenue businesses on Tuesday and Wednesday will be able buy two-for-one meals, products or services like an hour of an architect’s time, tours of Ardent Studio, hot yoga for two, glasses frames, 30 minutes of public relations advice or even a nail trim or “anal gland expression’’ for the dog.
The “Meet Me Along Madison’’ promotion is a creation of the Madison Avenue Business Association to drum up more business.
The revitalization of Overton Square has been one of the most successful projects in Memphis history, a turnaround that restored the 1970s and '80s entertainment district to its former glory and then some. So businesses along Madison don't exactly need to entice folks to visit.
But that's what the Madison Avenue Business Association has planned, nonetheless. On Tuesday and Wednesday, you can dine and shop at more than 30 businesses for a fixed $20.16 price for meals or services during the first Meet Me Along Madison.
