5 Ways to Experience Indie Memphis in March

Greetings 901’ers and welcome to our first Indie Memphis blog post! For those of you that don’t know what we at Indie Memphis are all about, we’re a local non-profit arts organization dedicated to year-round programs that showcase independent filmmaking. So, we’ll be posting a blog here at choose901.com with our upcoming schedule of events. – Joseph Carr, Ryan Watt

Thursday, Mar 3rd: Cory McAbee’s SMALL STAR SEMINAR

Join filmmaker/musician Cory McAbee for his first solo music project, the satirical SMALL STAR SEMINAR. Cory performs as a motivational speaker who urges people to give up their goals, stop reaching for the stars, and start looking for the stars within their own minds. The set features optimistic songs about quitting, accepting one’s own limitations, and the power of sitting quietly. As an encore McAbee will address the theory of “Deep Astronomy” and answer questions from the audience. The show combines music & film and will be documented for an upcoming feature film written & directed by McAbee. You may remember Cory’s three popular feature films at Indie Memphis: ‘The American Astronaut’, ‘Stingray Sam’ and ‘Crazy & Thief’.

  • The event will take place at Malco Studio on the Square at 7:30pm
  • Tickets are $10 ($8 for members)
