This Weekend: Slash, Bona Fide Blues Festival, Best Memphis Burger

After nursing along hosting a regular blues music series this past year, Overton Square this weekend stages a full festival dedicated to the genre. The two-day Bona Fide Blues Festival will take place Friday and Saturday in and around the Midtown nightlife center. It will feature a collection of Mid-South blues and R&B musicians, including Memphis perennials such as Elmo & the Shades, Joyce Cobb, Ghost Town Blues Band, the Bo-Keys and Preston Shannon, as well as notable Mississippians including Watermelon Slim, Mark “Muleman” Massey and Shardé Thomas and the Rising Star Fife & Drum Band. In addition to the outdoor Gibson Stage, bands will be performing at Bar Louie, the Blue Monkey, the Zebra Lounge, and Lafayette’s Music Room.
