Memphis’ Overton Square Once Again Home to Lafayette’s Music Room

Everything old is new again.

In the 1970s, Midtown Memphis’ Overton Square was a major nightlife destination, with 11 restaurants and 27 shops. Pub crawls attracted upwards of 40,000 revelers and Christmas at Overton Square was one of the city’s biggest holiday events.

Today, Overton Square is once again thriving, and proudly boasts one of the city’s most famous music venues— Lafayette’s Music Room, which opened anew in 2014 following a 38-year hiatus.
