Lafayette's Namesake Honored in Overton Square

Veteran bartender Lafayette Draper, namesake of the original Lafayette’s Music Room in Overton Square, was honored Saturday morning with a reception in Overton Square’s Atrium. The music venue, which featured Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, KISS, Minnie Riperton and other acts on the rise back in the 1970s, is slated to reopen at the beginning of October, said Alex Boggs, the restaurant’s general manager.
